Summer is quickly coming to an end! Check out the local events below to help you and your family get prepared for the upcoming school year!

 

Stop The Violence Back To School Rally

Saturday July 27th 10am-12pm

Magic 101.3 has partnered with P.A.V.E for The 20th annual Stop the Violence Back-to-School Rally which will be held at the Santa Fe College gym. Free backpacks filled with school supplies will be available to the first 3,000 students to show up.

 Alachua County Public Schools will also be a part of the rally and will provide important back to school information like calendars and supply lists. Nurses will even be on hand giving out free school immunizations.

 

Tax Free Holiday 

August 2nd-August 6th 2019

The 2019 Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday was passed by the Florida Legislature and signed into law by Governor Ron DeSantis. This sales tax holiday begins Friday, August 2, 2019, and runs through Tuesday, August 6, 2019.

During this sales tax holiday period, qualifying items will be exempt from tax including: certain school supplies selling for $15 or less per item; and clothing, footwear, and certain accessories selling for $60 or less per item; and computers and certain accessories selling for $1,000 or less per item, when purchased for noncommercial or personal use. This is the best time to stock up on back to school clothes, shoes and supplies.

 

Back to School Bash at Celebration Pointe


Celebration Pointe and Fun 4 Gator Kids are partnering up to bring in the school year in style! This is a great opportunity to learn about some of the fun after-school programs offered in Gainesville throughout the year. The event will collect supplies for local charities. August 3rd 9am-1pm

Attendees are asked to bring non-perishable food items for Food4Kids Backpack Program of North Florida and school supplies to donate to Alachua County Tools for Schools.

There will be Exhibition booths from after-school providers and youth sports organizations with information, activities, and free back-to-school handouts. In addition to food, drinks, and frozen treats from Celebration Pointe restaurants and
vendors.
